Tico Tico no Fubá
Composed in 1917 by Brazilian composer Zequinha de Abreu, “Tico Tico no Fubá” is a classic choro celebrated for its relentless motion and playful energy. Originally popularized in Brazil on piano and small ensembles, it quickly became a proving ground for instrumental agility.
The piece achieved worldwide fame in the 1940s through performers such as Carmen Miranda and Ethel Smith. Its rapid-fire melodies and syncopation later attracted guitarists, who adapted it into virtuosic solo arrangements across jazz, classical, and fingerstyle traditions.
