A Short History
Although it first appeared as an instrumental for the film it did have lyrics written by Larry Kusik. With the lyrics attached, the song was known as, “Speak Softly, Love. “
That same year in 1972 Andy Williams released a recording of “Speak Softly, Love” that went to 34 on Billboard magazine’s “Hot 100.” Below are the lyrics as written by Larry Kusik and sung by Andy Williams.
