Fingerpicking Pattern for Slow Tempo

This is a fingerpicking pattern I use on slow tempo music. There are many variations on it you can do once you learn the basics. I kept it fairly simple in the video below.

Fingerpicking Pattern (Slow Tempo)

I use the pattern to accompany the melody of the Charlie Chaplin song, “Smile.” See further down for the guitar tab.

“Smile” was composed by Charlie Chaplin for his 1936 film, “Modern Times.” The film was written and directed by Chaplin, who also stars in it as his character, Little Tramp.

Fingerpicking Pattern Guitar TAB

Here is the guitar tab for a fingerpicking pattern that I like to use on slow songs or any slow tempo music.

Only the first four measure are different. There I am plucking three strings on the first beat of each bar. And I’m also using my thumb on the third note. On the rest of the bars I am only using my thumb on the first beat and only plucking two strings. If the first four measures/bars are too difficult at first, try playing them like the pattern I have on bar 13.

The tab is complete and free as an image below. I offer a PDF download for your convenience to support the website. Thank you for your purchases.
