1965).
Linus and Lucy
“Linus and Lucy,” the iconic jazz piano piece by Vince Guaraldi, was composed in 1964 for an unaired Peanuts documentary titled A Boy Named Charlie Brown, produced by Lee Mendelson after he heard Guaraldi’s hit “Cast Your Fate to the Wind” on the radio. Although the documentary was shelved, the soundtrack album Jazz Impressions of a Boy Named Charlie Brown was released that year, introducing the upbeat, boogie-woogie-driven tune—named after the Van Pelt siblings—that captured the playful spirit of Charles Schulz’s characters.
The song gained immortality in 1965 when it was re-recorded and featured prominently in the television special A Charlie Brown Christmas, underscoring the famous dance scene and helping establish it as the unofficial signature theme for the entire Peanuts franchise across dozens of animated specials.
