Isn’t She Lovely
“Isn’t She Lovely” is a radiant soul celebration written, composed, and largely performed by Stevie Wonder, released in 1976 on his landmark double album Songs in the Key of Life. Inspired by the 1975 birth of his daughter Aisha Morris, the song radiates pure paternal joy through its warm lyrics, infectious groove, and Wonder’s signature harmonica.
Clocking in at over six minutes, it was never released as a U.S. single—Wonder refused edits—but became a radio staple and enduring classic. Features include a baby’s cry (not Aisha’s) at the opening and her real coos fading out, with Wonder playing most instruments himself.
