Stardust

“Stardust” is a jazz standard written in 1927 by Hoagy Carmichael, with lyrics added later by Mitchell Parish. The song was first recorded as an instrumental and became widely known through Bing Crosby’s 1931 version. Its dreamy, flowing melody evokes a sense of nostalgia, capturing the romanticism of early 20th-century American popular music.

Over the decades, “Stardust” has been performed by hundreds of artists, from Nat King Cole to Willie Nelson. Some recordings reveal unexpected quirks: Carmichael himself reportedly played certain notes differently each time, giving the melody a subtly shifting, almost magical quality.
