Bye Bye Blackbird
Written in 1926, this song was composed by Ray Henderson with lyrics by Mort Dixon. It appeared during the height of the Jazz Age, when American popular music was spreading quickly through records, radio, and vaudeville performances across the country.
It soon became a standard, recorded by many singers and jazz musicians. Over time, it crossed styles, appearing in swing, vocal pop, and later jazz interpretations, helping it remain widely known long after its original release in American music history.
